UCLA Researcher Receives Muscular Dystrophy Association Grant

The Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) awarded $389,000 in funding to Dr. Rachelle Crosbie, Professor and Chair of Integrative Biology and Physiology at UCLA. This research will support the development of a small molecule that holds promise for preventing muscle damage in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The molecule raises levels of a muscle protein called sarcospan, an important regulator in muscle cells.
